Hi guys how do tell alconite guides to aluminum oxide guides center rings hope you can help

They look different. If I were you I would invest a little and buy one guide with each of the different ring materials in a size/color you would maybe use so not a total waste and have them on hand to compare. I don't mean getting one of each color coating some have, but one of the basic materials like sic, alconite, hardaloy, alumoxide, hiloy, etc. different manufacturers have their own name for something similar.

Excellent idea Kerry, I have had for years one of each ring type stapled to a small board and still use it. As I have drawers full of mixed guides it gets difficult even for me at times to tell the difference after sorting through hundereds of guides for bagging.
