Hi Joe, do you want to clamp with cork on rod blank or mandrel?

Al; I want to clamp cork on the rod blank. I have an idea on how to build it, but I would like some dimensions.(ie) how long the threaded rod has to be and size wood blocks/hard wood or pine. What dia. all thread.

I would make the rods about two inches longer then the longest cork handle you intend to build. Also I used Pine with mine and it worked fine. Not a lot of pressure is needed when gluing.

Another idea that can be used instead of threaded rods are some bar clamps. They come in various lengths so selecting a couple of different sizes will cover your needs. I like the clamps because they are a little quicker to set-up. Also another idea is to use a threaded eye bolts and a light-weight chain stretched between the eye bolts. The chain can be adjusted to various lengths depending on the length of grip. I've used this method for awhile, but have since gone away from it and now using the bar clamps.

These are all good suggestions, I have some scrap 5/4" X 6" pine in my shop and two 3' pieces of threaded rod I can use. I could post pictures if I new how on this site.
