HDM Tiger Wrap - RCJ V41 No 3

Postby Chris Ward » Tue Oct 27, 2015 9:10 am

Ok, have I been missing something with my attempts at Tiger Wraps.

The item by Harold in V41 No 3 - HDM Tiger wraps includes one layer using sheet Mylar. Using the Mylar is this common to all tiger wraps or an added variation?

Never too old to learn a new trick.

Chris

Mylar has been around for a few years. It is now staring to ketch on. Harold's article was great

I think Doc Ski came up with idea. Doing two open wraps over a mylar base. I haven't seen the RCJ article yet though, so it may be something different than Doc's.

I think the original tiger of Scott Throop was done with a two thread base layer and a one thread, one sacrificial on top. Most everything since that introduction have been experiments and variations, and some really good ones at that. So to your question, no, mylar isn't used on all tigers. Just some really pretty ones!

I think your both right there Grant Darby and William Burkett everything since the Scott Throop wrap is a variant. I have only been doing tigers for about a year and in that time there has been quite a few different variations.I particularly like the HDM wrap in the most recent journal. I just need to find a good supply of Mylar in the UK.

Reflective lure tape would also work as a base.
