How did you get the weave and shell to blend. Weave first, rod finish and then shell? I do not see any gap like they are different in height. The more I look at it the more complicated it seems to get as to how it was done.

You pretty much got it. Weave, then thin coat of epoxy, then shell. I used a single thread soaked in CP to run around th eexposed cut edge of the shell. Because a 8 layer weave is raised up from the surrounding area, there is realy little difference in height between the weave and the shell. Trust me, this stuff is so easy to work it's ridiculous!
